Barbara Cossman, MN, RN, CPNP, IBCLC

Barbara, a valued member of our practice since 1994, brings a wealth of experience and passion for pediatrics. With a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Virginia and a master’s degree in Pediatric Nursing from Emory University, she has served as a Pediatric Clinical Nurse Specialist, an International Board-certified Lactation Consultant, and a Board-Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner.

Known for her happy, friendly, and caring personality, Barbara is detail-oriented and stays current in medical knowledge. As she approaches retirement, she now dedicates her expertise exclusively to newborn care, serving as our Newborn Specialist and Lactation Consultant. With a focus on helping new families transition into parenthood, Barbara guides children and their families in matters of physical and emotional health.

Passionate about fostering healthy lifestyles and good choices, Barbara encourages open discussions on parenting and life’s challenges. She believes in universal values such as mutual respect and patience, promoting a loving and secure home environment while advocating for loving discipline.

Beyond her professional achievements, Barbara cherishes her enduring marriage with husband Paul and the successful upbringing of her two children, Sam and Jennie.

The arrival of a new baby can be overwhelming, but Barbara aims to alleviate anxieties and empower families with the knowledge and skills to confidently care for their newborns. She’ll personally guide you in making the first few weeks of your baby’s life a fulfilling and joyous experience.

Lactation Consultant

As your Lactation Consultant, Barbara is here to guide and support you in feeding your newborn. Whether you choose breastfeeding or explore alternative methods, her goal is to help you establish a strong bond with your little one and ensure a healthy start.
