Laura Badwan, M.D.
From the age of 3, Dr. Badwan remembers wanting to be a doctor. As a little girl she would pretend to be a doctor, with her father being her best patient! Born and raised in North Carolina, Dr. Badwan graduated Summa Cum Laude from NC State University with a B.S. in Zoology. In 2002, she received her medical doctorate from Wake Forest University School of Medicine. She has been a faculty member at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine and George Washington University School of Medicine and spent much of her early career teaching residents and leading a large group of physicians. She has experience working in the pediatric intensive care unit, sedation unit and general pediatric inpatient hospital wards.
Dr. Badwan continued her leadership involvement in hospital wide committees which included safety and quality initiatives and launching electronic medical records (EMR). Upon moving to Georgia in 2013, Dr. Badwan worked as a pediatric hospitalist at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta – Scottish Rite. A desire to have more continuity with her patients and improved work/life balance brought Dr. Badwan to East Cobb Pediatrics.
Dr. Badwan is a mother of 3 young boys and is married to Dr. Ahmad Khaldi. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, hanging out with her boys, sporting events and volunteering with various local organizations. Dr. Badwan and her husband also lend some of their summers to providing medical care to children in need in the Middle East.
